Nothing happens by chance?

POZNAN, Poland—Do you believe in coincidences, meaningful simultaneous events that do not seem to have any causal connection?

I don’t, because everything has a cause, nothing happens by chance. Yet it is a fact that certain events do happen without apparent causal connection.

We were having dinner last Jan. 30 at the house of Anna, a Polish interior designer, where I was staying in Poznan. At the dinner table were the officers and staff of the Institute of Valeology who had invited me to conduct my seminars in Poznan and Warsaw, namely, Irena, Andre and Thomas.

With us were two other house guests of Anna: Gilbert Renaud of Canada and Marie-Jinette Rheault from southern France who conduct seminars on Total Biology.

We talked about the group of followers of the Bulgarian mystic, Mikhael Ivanhov, in Jeffrey, British Columbia in Canada. The place was called IDEAL Ranch led by Russian immigrant Natasha Kolesar. I stayed for a week in that ranch about five years ago upon the invitation of a Canadian named Mr. Couto. I didn’t know that Gilbert and Marie-Jinette had also stayed there for a much longer period, and so did Irena Galinska, head of the Institute of Valeology.

“I was told that there was a Filipino who stayed in the ranch,” said Gilbert to me. “I didn’t realize it was you!”

“What a coincidence, isn’t it?” I said. “Imagine all of us who had been to that ranch in Jeffrey meeting here in Poznan!”

The IDEAL Ranch was a community of around 40 to 60 people from different countries who were studying and applying the teachings of Mikhael Ivanhov.

I told the group at dinner what happened to me the first time I joined the members in an early morning ritual to greet the rising sun. The group would sit facing the East and wait for the sun to rise over the Rocky Mountains. As soon as the first rays of the sun appeared over the horizon, they would all stand up and raise their right hands in salute to the sun.

As I did the same gesture, I told the group that I had a distinct feeling that I had done this ritual before as a monk in ancient Egypt. I was shocked at the memory of it. It was as if I was transported back to Egypt.

When Gilbert heard that, he smiled at me and said that he had been told that the teachings of his master, Mikhael Ivanhov, are a restatement of the rituals and teachings of ancient Egypt told in modern language. I didn’t know that.

Egyptian monk
I was told in 1979 by an extraordinary Filipina psychic (now dead) and in 1984 by an entity from the upper 5th dimension that I had been an Egyptian monk and scribe, a keeper of esoteric wisdom 3,500 years ago during the time of Ramses II. This was told to me at a time when I didn’t believe in reincarnation.

I asked Gilbert and Marie-Jinette whether they heard from the people staying at the IDEAL Ranch what happened to me there. And they said no.

I told them that on the second day of my stay, something extraordinary happened to me. I was staying in a room formerly occupied by Marie Christine La Foret who had a newborn. When I arrived, they moved to a bigger room in the same house.

That early morning, as I was lying in bed on my side facing the wall, I distinctly “saw” with my mind’s eye a man wearing a brown leather jacket enter my room. He stood beside my bed, looking at me intently. I didn’t open my eyes and I thought I was dreaming, yet I knew I was awake. I thought the man was Mr. Couto because he had the same build and height, only slightly slimmer. A few moments later, the man turned toward the door and went through it without opening it. It was then I realized it was not a living person.

Later that morning, I asked Mr. Couto if he came to my room earlier. And he said he did not. I asked if he had a brown leather jacket, he said no. When I described the person I “saw” in my vision, Marie Christine said, “That must be my husband Yves La Foret you saw.”

La Foret was the first Canadian who climbed Mt. Everest. He died in a freak river boat accident when his wife was pregnant. He never saw his child.

Gilbert and Marie-Jinette got very excited about my story because they knew Marie Christine and Yves La Foret very well.

“At the time of his death, he didn’t know his wife was pregnant.” Gilbert told us. “We were all shocked and very sad at what happened.”

I was amazed at the coincidence of meeting Gilbert and Marie-Jinette who come from different countries and who turned out to be good friends of the person whose ghost I had seen in Jeffrey, Canada. And here we were in Poznan, Poland in Eastern Europe.

Inner Awareness
2 cases of hypnotic regression

By Jaime Licauco

Filed Under: People, Lifestyle & Leisure

WARSAW, Poland—I just had two extraordinary cases of clients who came to me for past life hypnotic regression. I have changed their names to protect their privacy.

Rina, 40, is a tall, attractive woman who works as a receptionist in a small service company. Over dinner the previous evening before I did regression on her, I asked her if she has had a traumatic experience in childhood and she said, no. She asked why the question?

“Because your eyes look sad,” I told her, she just smiled. “Why are you always serious and quiet?” I asked her again, and she said she has always been like that, but she also said she had a happy childhood.

The next day, I was surprised that she wanted me to do a regression on her because she didn’t believe in reincarnation or past lives. So I told her, “Let us just chat for a while and see what happens. Let’s not do regression right away.”

As customary with me, I never do outright regression even when requested to do so. I first ask why a client wants to be regressed and then I also ask the client’s subconscious mind if it will permit us to do this. If the client’s subconscious mind says no, I don’t proceed with the regression. I do this with a simple technique using finger movements.

Past life in ancient Rome

Quite unexpectedly, Rina went into relaxation very fast and her subconscious mind cooperated fully. It answered right away and allowed me to put her into a deeper state of hypnosis.

In the regression she saw herself as a young woman of 20 in ancient Rome waiting for her lover who was out at sea.

A storm developed and the boat capsized drowning everybody inside. The next scene she saw was of her lover lying dead being watched by a large crowd. She cried.

The next scene was still in Rome and this time she had another lover. But he was accused of a serious crime and she saw him surrounded by a big crowd watching his execution. She saw her lover being beheaded. The colors red and blue were vivid in her memory.

The next scene, she was looking out the window waiting for her lover to come but he never did.

I asked her to go to the time of her death. How did she die? She said she jumped out of the window into the sea and drowned.

During her present life, Rina is always waiting for her true love. Her current boyfriend is in jail accused of a crime. She is afraid of water that’s why she never learned how to swim. She loves to wear golden armbands or bracelets just like Roman women did in the past and Rina has Romanesque features.

She said what she saw were so vivid it really shocked her. For a long time after I woke her up, she just sat there on the chair immobilized. I had to tap her shoulder three times before she could completely get out of trance.

“Now,” she said, “I understand why I am like this. Thank you very much.”

Depossession process

The second case was not a regression, although that was what she came to me for. It was more a case of depossession, that is, the removal of a benign entity that attached itself to her without her knowing it.

Let’s call her Anna, 55, and a psychotherapist by profession. She came to me for consultation she said, because she was slowly losing control of her life, somebody is controlling her and she thinks it’s her lover whom she wanted to separate from but could not.

Anna has been separated from her husband for a long time now. Her daughter acted as interpreter. I asked since when she noticed her life changing and her being out of control, she said “about a month or two ago.”

I asked her what happened to her during that time. She couldn’t think of anything special, except that she had been trying to get away from this relationship with a man for years now, because she felt it was a destructive relationship.

During my attempt to talk to her subconscious mind, it would not cooperate. It responded negatively to the question of whether it would allow us to probe into her past life. Then I asked if it would allow this to be done later. Again, it said, no. Then I asked if something was blocking it, and it said, yes. Is it her mind? It replied, no.

I thought for a moment what to do next. Then I suddenly asked, “Is it a spirit that’s blocking this?” It said, yes. That was a breakthrough! I knew then what to do. I said, “I want to speak directly to the spirit within Anna’s body.” To my relief it said, yes.

“Are you a relative of this woman?” It said, no. “How long have you been with her? Have you been with her a long time?” It said, no. Then I asked, “One month?” No, “One and a half months?” Yes.

Then I told the spirit that he no longer belongs to the earth plane, that he should seek the light in the spirit world. There are relatives of his waiting for him.

“Look for the light,” I said. “Can you see a light? It said, yes. “Good,” I said. “Then go towards the light and leave this woman in peace. She has suffered enough. Are you willing to do this?” It said, yes. Go now into the light and be at peace.”

After a few moments, I woke up the client. She was completely amazed. I told her that the spirit would not bother her anymore. It will not be controlling her life. She will regain control over herself. She was so relieved but asked what she should do when it comes back. “How can I protect myself from such entities?”

I told her to strengthen her will power. She will be able to end the destructive relationship she has with the man she wants to leave, now that the entity has stopped controlling her. It is significant to note that she began feeling that she was losing control of her life at the time the entity or spirit entered her body. This confirmed it was the spirit, which was behind her losing control of herself, not the man she wanted to separate from.

She came out of the room with a big smile on her face, quite a contrast from when she entered it.

Inner Awareness
Past-life hypnotic regression

By Jaime Licauco
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 00:17:00 03/03/2009

I MIGHT have stirred up a hornet’s nest when I narrated stories of past life hypnotic regressions I did in Poland.

Although I appreciate the keen interest of readers, I must clarify certain points.

First, I do not perform individual past life hypnotic regressions upon request. I conduct a group hypnotic regression in my seminar on soulmates, karma and reincarnation.

I do individual regression only if there is serious problem or trauma which could be rooted in a previous incarnation and which now interferes with the person’s present life. If one just wants to know who one was in a past life, this is usually revealed in the group regression in the seminar.
Although done in a group, it remains private because only the participants see the past and don’t have to share it with others.

In individual regression, however, the subject describes where she is and what she is experiencing or seeing in that life. If the client is not visual, he or she may just feel or sense the past. We also ask how the person died in the past because this event usually affects one’s present life.
Second, not everybody can undergo hypnosis. According to scientific studies, only 65-70 percent of people can be hypnotized, for one reason or another. Maybe the person is too critical, or cannot relax completely, or cannot concentrate. Maybe he or she is under stress or thinking of many other problems. Even too much excitement about what one may see can interfere with the process.
Fear is also another factor.

If the subconscious mind says no, I do not proceed, even if the client insists. There are ethical considerations.

Third, sometimes, the problem a person may be experiencing may be rooted in the present lifetime, not the past. So it is not advisable to regress a person to correct a present problem. For example, a woman doctor came to me because she could not be consistent in her signature on her checks, thus the bank kept returning her checks for verification. She couldn’t understand why her signature always changed, and wondered if it had its roots in a past life trauma.

Her subconscious mind, however, revealed that the problem stemmed from this lifetime. When she was three, she was writing her name on a piece of paper when her father slapped her hand. She got hurt and cried. She didn’t know why her father did that.

She had suppressed that memory and the problem surfaced only later in life. I said she no longer had to carry that burden. Before I woke her up, I made the suggestion that she would be able to write her name normally. After one month, she called me up and said the banks no longer returned her checks.

Fourth, there is some danger in doing past life hypnotic regression, specially by somebody not trained for it.

About 10 years ago, a group of teenagers read a book on the technique of past-life hypnotic regression. They tried it on an 18-year-old female cousin and succeeded in bringing her back several hundred years before this lifetime. Suddenly, the hypnotized girl started crying terribly. She remembered a traumatic incident in the past life.

The teenagers shook her, but she wouldn’t wake up. They even slapped her, but she still continued to cry and not wake up.

In their confusion, somebody thought of looking me up in the phone book. I talked to the cousin who gave her the hypnotic induction and told him what to do. After five minutes he called up and said that he was able to wake up his cousin. I told them never to do this again.

Psychic abilities: Holy Spirit’s gift

By Jaime Licauco
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 00:24:00 03/10/2009

I WOULD like to answer in this column the questions or comments made by four readers. Although the questions are different, they are somehow related.

The first letter comes from Jennilyn, 25. Although open to the ideas I espouse in books and other writings, she became confused when a leader of their religious group heard her talking about her psychic abilities. The leader said these spirits she sees are “the work of the devil” and that my books “can lead her to evil.” Jennilyn asked if I could enlighten her. “I really believe that what I have is part of God’s plan,” she added.

The second letter comes from Sonia, 40, who said she’s a Roman Catholic but joined a Japanese Buddhist sect in which the members are made to chant. But later, she became more interested in chanting and not praying and therefore felt guilty. She stopped joining the Buddhist group because she had no intention of leaving the Catholic faith. She asked, “Am I violating my Catholic faith by doing this chanting?”

The third letter comes from Tess of Davao del Norte. She said, “I became more open to your concepts when I read what you had to say about (Rhonda Byrne’s) ‘The Secret’ and the Law of Attraction. You said there are actually other hidden laws which have not been explored in the book.”

She said, “I have a similar experience as Christine’s whom you wrote about in your April 2008 column.”

The fourth letter comes from Fernando, who wrote, “There are many reports that New Age followers are vulnerable to devil possession. What can you say?”

Confused leaders

Let’s start with Jennilyn’s confusion. Don’t let opinions of other people bother you. Listen to your own heart and to your reason. Many so-called religious leaders in this country are confused themselves, but they think they have the only true answer to every spiritual question.

Since you asked for my opinion, I want to tell you in no uncertain terms that seeing spirits or having other psychic abilities are not necessarily the work of the devil. A lot of saints of the Catholic Church could see spirits and even talk to them. They also have strong psychic abilities like seeing the future, healing the sick and reading other people’s minds. I could think of Padre Pio, who exhibited such extraordinary psychic abilities that the Church got afraid and prohibited him from teaching or writing books. Having psychic abilities such as prophecy, healing, speaking in tongues, etc. are gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to St. Paul.

My books are based on scientific investigations and controlled experiments. They have nothing to do with religion or belief systems. References or sources for these ideas are always listed at the back of my books, so that readers can check for themselves whether they are factually based or not.

Sonia’s question of whether chanting violates her Catholic faith is not for me to answer because I do not represent the Catholic Church nor any religious group for that matter. That question is better addressed to a Catholic priest. But since she asked the question, let me answer it. Chanting puts one in a meditative state known in more scientific terms as the “alpha” or “theta” brain wave levels. There’s nothing wrong with that, as far as I am concerned.

Tess did not really have a question. I appreciate her remark that even though she’s Roman Catholic she’s open to my ideas, which she considers to be unique and not mainstream.

Fernando’s question is what is known in elementary logic or in argumentation and debate as a “loaded” question: “Is it true that New Age followers are vulnerable to devil possession?”

This depends on what you mean by the word New Age, because I myself have difficulty trying to understand what this word means. I am not at all a follower of the so-called New Age Movement.

Actually, everyone is vulnerable to spirit possession, whether from the devil (if he really exists) or from negative spirits, especially spirits of the dead (which definitely exist). Vulnerability to spirit possession is a function of one’s weakness of will and tearing of one’s protective aura or auric shield. Even Catholic priests and nuns have been known to be possessed by the devil or negative spirits.

Does Buddhist chanting violate Catholicism?

By Jaime Licauco
Philippine Daily Inquirer

Filed Under: Religion & Belief, Belief (Faith)

I AM GLAD TO RECEIVE AN E-MAIL FROM a 30-year-old Dominican priest named Fr. Nilo A. Lardizabal, in response to a query from a healer named Sonia who asked if she was violating her Catholic faith by doing Japanese Buddhist chanting.

Fr. Lardizabalís reply in brief is as follows:

“Meditative chantings are common in the Catholic religion. We in the Dominican Order chant the psalms (found in Scripture) every day, much like the Buddhist chanting.

So my response to your question is this: No, it does not violate Catholic teaching to do chantings.

However, let me issue a caution. Though joining Buddhist chantings are not wrong, we should be careful to know and preserve what our faith teaches. I chanted with Buddhist monks, and for a time served at their monastery. I needed the experience because I was taking up philosophical Buddhist studies for my MA thesis. Now I am completing my doctorate studies, again in Buddhism. But I have to be careful not to violate or harm my faith.

There are some teachings in Buddhism which are incompatible with Christian teachings from the Bible. For example, reincarnation. We do not have that in Catholicism, so believing in it harms and violates the faith.”

Thank you so much Fr. Lardizabal. I shall forward your e-mail to Sonia so she can get the benefit of your complete reply. I hope she writes directly to you if she has other questions regarding her Catholic faith.

Let me just respond here to one statement you made in your reply regarding reincarnation. You said, “We do not have that in Catholicism,” that is true. But when you concluded, “so believing in it harms and violates the faith,” I do not agree.

In the first place, the conclusion does not follow from the premise. Just because something or an idea is not present in the Catholic religion does not mean believing in it harms and violates the faith.

For example, the Catholic faith does not teach that there are extraterrestrial creatures or intelligent beings in other planets or galaxies. Does believing in ETs therefore violate and harm one’s faith? I donít think so. In fact, the head of the Vatican Observatory, who is a Catholic priest, came out with a statement recently that believing in ETs is not violative of one’s faith. He himself believes in it. Yet that is not taught by the Church.

Reincarnation

Regarding reincarnation, I have thoroughly researched this subject for a number of years. I found that even St. Jerome and St. Augustine initially believed in reincarnation but later changed their minds and followed others in denouncing it, especially after Origen, who believed in multiple rebirth, was condemned during the Second Council of Constantinople (otherwise known in Church history as the Fifth Ecumenical Council) in 553 A.D.

I found that belief in rebirth called “resurrection” was part of early Christian teachings. And there are very clear passages in the Bible that can be interpreted in a reincarnational manner. Of course, the official stand of the Church is contrary to this.

According to one book, modern Church scholars are divided in their opinion on whether reincarnation was indeed condemned in the Second Council of Constantinople. Neither do they think that it is forbidden for the faithful to believe in it. “The Catholic Encyclopedia permits the conclusion on at least technical grounds, that there is no barrier to belief in reincarnation for Catholic Christians.” (Source: “Reincarnation: The Phoenix Fire Mystery” by Joseph Head and S.L. Cranston.)

There is no single Papal Encyclical I have found condemning belief in reincarnation. And when science finally proves it is true, the Vatican will have to revise its present stand. I invite you to research thoroughly on the subject not only by going through early Christian sources but also non-Christian ones.

Fr. Lardizabal replied to this and I will let him have the last word without necessarily agreeing with him.

“Reincarnation is not a teaching in Catholicism, and in greater Christianity. This is so because it goes against the redemptive death of Jesus Christ. Catholics believe that we are given one life by God, and death spells a particular judgment by God. With this, then, there seems to be no room, or no need to be reincarnated because the fullness of life is already achieved with God.î

Out-of-body experience during sleep

By Jaime Licauco
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 19:58:00 03/23/2009

“SEVERAL times after falling asleep, I could see everyone in the room, but I couldn’t move, speak or scream. I have difficulty breathing.

“My husband told me after waking up fully from this experience that I was moaning, but he ignored me because I looked like I was only dreaming.

“I told him in detail what he was doing for the past minutes while he thought I was in deep sleep.

“Is this normal? Or am I just having ‘bangungot?” (Name withheld upon request)

You’re just having spontaneous astral projection or out-of-body experience (OOBE) during sleep. This is a fairly common and natural occurrence.

When a person is asleep, his astral body (also called energy body or subtle body) goes out of the physical body and sometimes travels away from it. He can see 360 degrees and can hear everything.

If you don’t panic and just keep your mind quiet and still, if you don’t try to struggle, you will naturally and easily get back to your physical body.

“Bangungot” happens when you go to the lower astral plane where monsters and evil spirits lie in wait for astral bodies that stray into their world where it will surely be difficult to get out. As long as your thoughts and emotions are positive you will not get into those lower planes.

Dream of past life in Egypt

A reader from Azerbaijan named Musa Musayev, who now lives in Angeles City, relates two extraordinary experiences.

“Many times I see myself as a Pharaoh in Egypt, dressed in gold and living in a very big palace.

“One time in the dream, I was standing on a rock in the mountain, a lightning struck in front of me and a sword appeared. I took it and felt it had so much energy that I became powerful.

“I also want to tell you a true story which happened to me in my country. I was then 16 years old (I am 27 now). I was at home during the celebration of my birthday, which was also my graduation from school. I was sitting near a table. On it was a glass of soft drink. When I reached for it, the glass suddenly disappeared.”

Your dreams could be telling you who you were in the past. Our past incarnations sometimes surface in our dream state when our critical or rational faculties are asleep, allowing our subconscious mind to give us information which are otherwise inaccessible during our waking state. Try to see if your dreams relate to your present life, or if they help explain certain aspects of your present life. If they do, then they are likely to be true.

What happened to the glass of soft drink is called “dematerialization.” That’s the opposite of “materialization,” which is when something appears out of nowhere.

Inner Awareness
Psychic skills are not evil

By Jaime Licauco
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 21:33:00 03/30/2009

ALMOST EVERY PERSON has experienced spontaneous manifestation of psychic perception or power. When it happens, it is usually dismissed as mere coincidence not worth paying attention to.

But when such experiences happen in greater frequency in the most unlikely situations, however, the person usually becomes afraid and may even question his or her sanity.

This is what has been happening to Maricel. In an e-mail, she related that she can tell what will happen to a person she does not know before it does.

One time, Maricel was riding a jeepney on the way home. A man was seated next to her. “I could not describe the feeling I had when I looked at him. I felt very heavy, as if something would happen to him.” Three days later, the man, who happened to be a neighbor, went into coma following a motorcycle accident.

“The same thing happened when my friend’s uncle died,” continued Maricel. “When I saw him, it was as if he was in another dimension and only I could see him.

“Sometimes I would see things on a television screen like a wake in our neighbor’s house. There was a coffin with lights, but the coffin was outside the house instead of inside. Then the image blurred out and disappeared.

“Then my friend texted me that somebody had died in their family. It was their dearest dog. I loved that dog because it bit me once and it bled.”

Before something happens, no matter how petty or insignificant it is, she would see it in her mind’s eye.

Maricel could also tell the exact birth date of a friend without asking her. “One time,” she related, “I was talking with a staff from our Manila office. I had intended to give her a surprise on her birthday. But I didn’t know when it was. When we were talking on the phone, my mind just told me when her birthday was. After our conversation, I checked with our Human Resources for her birthday. It was the correct one I had in my mind.”

She said she didn’t know when such psychic experiences began. “Is this normal? Or is this what’s known as woman’s intuition? Is this an evil force that’s with me and lets me see what his plans are for others? Should I be afraid? When will this stop?”

Extraordinary gifts

First, let me assure you that you are normal and you are not losing your mind. Psychic ability is possessed by everybody, except that some have more developed inner faculties than others.

Second, such experiences are not necessarily the result of evil forces. Didn’t Christ himself and his disciples exhibit similar psychic abilities, like predicting the future, healing the sick, reading people’s minds and even walking on water? And didn’t He say, “Everything that I have done you can do, and much more than this?” So why think of such psychic gifts as evil?

Third, why do you want to stop such ability? Many people would pay big money to develop such psychic skills that you possess naturally. You don’t have to study or develop them. Make the most of it and use it to benefit and help yourself, your family and humanity in general.

If you are interested in learning more about this subject, attend my seminars or read my books. I recommend you start with “Understanding the Psychic Powers of Man” and “Exploring the Powers of Your Inner Mind.” They are available at leading bookstores in the country. Good luck.
